We are delighted to announce that Jillian Allan has been recognised for her contribution and commitment to HSEQ at the 2023 WHS Awards. The annual WHS Awards recognise and reward individuals and organisational effort and achievement in improving work health and safety.
Jillian was announced as the winner of the Health and Safety (H&S) Representative Award at the WHS (Work Health and Safety) Foundation Awards Gala Dinner held at the Crown Resort.
This award acknowledges and recognises the positive contribution of an individual elected H&S Representative who demonstrates an outstanding continuous learning and commitment to the position of H&S Representative, making a positive difference to WHS in their workplace.
Jillian is part of a team of over 30 people working in trade roles including Painters, Fitters and Boilermaker/Welders.
Jillian spends her work days on site in the shipyards where ship maintenance, repairs, preservation and upgrades on vessels for Defence frigates and Commercial marine vessels is carried out.

Since commencing with our Industrial Services team, Jill has made a big impression, working hard to make a difference to the safety and health of her colleagues.
Jillian constantly encourages team members to communicate any hazardous issues that may arise, resulting in a significant increase in reported hazards and worker involvement/participation. She leads by example, playing an active role in identifying hazards and controlling risks in our workplace herself receiving recognition among her peers as a Hazard of the Month Award recipient on several occasions.
Jillian has contributed to improvements in safety culture within our Industrial Services Defence and Marine division making a positive contribution to our safety success. This is demonstrated by the achievement of Group awards for HSEQ and KPI Performance in December 2022 and the division’s recent milestone of 2000 days Lost Time Injury Free achieved in May 2023.
“I take my role seriously and am motivated by helping to keep our workers safe and making a positive difference in the workplace. I really enjoy my work. The culture the team has created on site is one of the best I have been a part of,” she said.
Jill’s hard work has also been rewarded with a recent promotion from her role as Trade Assistant to Junior HSEQ Advisor.
