Two West Australian companies have combined their services to spread awareness about the Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon Campaign, by driving a stand-out 10-tonne skip work platform from Perth to Leinster tomorrow.
Perth-based engineering services company Orontide will deliver the 10m-long, bright pink work platform to BHP Nickel West in Leinster where it will be used in underground maintenance at the
Leinster mine, and it is sure to turn a few heads along the way.
Orontide chief executive Stewart Maddison said the move to paint the equipment pink and display it along the journey was an example of the companies working
together to promote a worthy cause.
“This project itself demonstrates what we can do when we work together with our clients,” he said.
“When we realised that the completion of the manufacturing phase coincided with our annual Safety Week, we knew we had an amazing opportunity to achieve significant reach with our support
of women’s cancer awareness and prevention.”
Nickel West Leinster project manager Florian Morris said the company was happy to see the headturning platform travel 1000km to Leinster.
“This is a great opportunity to spread the word for breast cancer awareness,” he said.
Cancer Council WA regional education officer Rachel Jolly said the companies were sparking conversation surrounding breast cancer, which was still the most commonly diagnosed cancer
among WA women.
“It’s great to have support from Orontide and BHP Nickel West because it really helps reach people who may not normally see our Pink Ribbon Campaign,” she said.
